Šulc, René

Already during his studies he participated in the competition for energy-saving lighting fittings, his fitting Durynk won and was later manufactured by Lucis. Immediately after school he had an opportunity to cooperate with the Czech company focused on the manufacture of lighting fittings and extraordinary lighting fittings for versatile use in the interior originated from the mutual cooperation and were presented at the autumn Designblok 08. It was a collection of four series of lighting fittings combining the traditional Czech hand-blown glass technology and modern technologies in the form of composite materials and laminates.

In addition to lighting, René Šulc deals with furniture. His sofa Chaise-longue was included in the project Czech 100 - a hundred icons of Czech design. According to Šulc, design would not only bring a new form, but should mainly improve the product manufacture qualities and functions of the object itself, whether it is a piece of furniture, lighting fixture or a jewel. In his work he is inspired by everything around him, by various events, sensations, natural shapes or even growth, as happened with his lamps called Trifidi, with organic forming reflected in their appearance.
In 2006 he founded his own studio Inveno, which continues and develops the designer's experience in industrial design. His studio work is focused mainly on the design of lighting fittings, furniture, product design, but also the design of medical devices.
