Maison et Objet Paris 2013

Czech design presented itself at the Paris Maison et Objet trade fair

For the fourth time, prominent Czech furniture and glass companies with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic presented themselves at an international trade fair of design, furniture and home accessories Maison et Objet, which was held from  18th -  22nd  January  2013 in Paris. Czech Selection 013 collection presented production of 14 Czech companies specialised in the manufacture of furniture, lighting fittings, and glass objects. The placing of the collection in a hall called Now! Design á vivre among the best world design companies suggests that Czech design is at high level and it enjoyed great interest by the fair visitors. Architectonic rendering by Olgoj Chorchoj, a prominent Czech design studio contributed to the success of the Czech presentation.

Since the Maison et Objet is a strictly selective trade fair French organisers decide on the participation of individual exhibitors and for including among exhibitors, all potential interested parties must comply with strict criteria. It is also for this reason that the Czech companies who applied undergo a curator's selection already in the Czech Republic. Among fourteen selected companies were represented both companies established in the world market and smaller companies which are only gradually gaining ground and it is the participation in the joint Czech exposition at prestigious trade fairs that is helping them significantly. The following companies formed this year´s Paris Czech Selection: mmcité, Process, Ton, Lugi, A.M.O.S. DESIGN, DAD Studio, Qubus, BeldaFactory, Marienberg, Bomma, Verreum, Lasvit, Brokis and Ateh.

The Czech exhibition has also attracted many visitors from the ranks of respected designers. For example, a word-wide-known designer Arik Levy who has been already successfully cooperating with some Czech companies had a tour of the Czech Selection collection.
